Inspired by the power of both yoga and art to change the lives of ordinary people, the Eight Paths, One Journey project is proudly supporting beyond blue: the national depression initiative, to reach beyond the art and raise awareness of depression.

As almost any yoga practitioner will tell you, yoga is as much a practice for the mind as it is for the body. In much the same way, most art lovers tell of how their favourite works not only please the senses, but also evoke emotion, stimulate creativity and inspire insight.

Both art and yoga communicate in a universal language that crosses cultures and breaks down the barriers of native tongue, feeding the mental faculties while challenging an audience to look beyond their own beliefs and values, and see the world from different perspectives.

Considering this, the Eight Paths, One Journey project approached beyondblue to support their work in raising awareness of depression, anxiety and related mental health conditions.

The Eight Paths, One Journey project aims to fulfil the potential of all art to inspire, by sharing stories of individuals who have used yoga to overcome the mental and emotional challenges inherent in today’s society. The project team believes that sharing such positive stories will assist to breakdown the stereotypes associated with people dealing with such challenges and in a greater sense, the sigma attached to mental-health conditions.
